so what is bonejangless?

i adopted the name way back in my early social media days (2010-ish), before i even started freelancing. 'bonejangles' is actually a character from one of my favourite animated films - corpse bride - and being a huge tim burton fan i wanted a username that was subtly related to him. as i gained a following for my art online it eventually evolved into my brand name, so that's who i am now! bonejangless is me! with an extra 's' on the end however, because a username with just the one wasn't available for the taking. such is life.by the way, it's pronounced as: bone-jang-OOL-ss.

..

what kind of things do you draw? are there limitations on your commissions?

i love drawing faces and so most of my art is portrait-based. i predominately work in a traditional medium, namely grey pencil; however i have been practicing and building confidence to incorporate colour pencil in some pieces as well. digitally i complete my work in photoshop with a wacom tablet and often illustrate cute and vibrant 'chibi' characters. these styles are what i have to offer if you'd like to commission me.my portrait art is not limited to humans only, i have experience drawing a range of animals and even robots (think gipsy danger from pacific rim and, uh.. darth vader? haha). backgrounds are far from my strong suit so i ask that your commissions don't include any kind of a scenery. i don't paint either, and as i'm not a graphic designer or tattoo artist, these are not styles of work that i offer. generally my chibis are just of people but i can add in pets - this i'll determine based on your idea/request.for all commissions i'm open to requests that involve things like blood or gore (to the extent my skills allow) otherwise all my art is strictly safe for work.

..

is art your full-time job?

i am not self-employed full-time, no. 20 hours of each week are dedicated to my part-time office position, and the other 20 hours to my own business and art. together they balance and comprise my full-time income.

..

what is your commission process? do i get to see/approve my order before you finish it?

when my commissions are open, simply e-mail me with what you'd like me to draw for you. once we have communicated and i've confirmed your order, you will need to submit a deposit to secure the booking. this amount will be subtracted from the total price at the end. i will also confirm with you the date i shall start your piece and if you have a deadline. please be available to e-mail during the time i'm working on your order so i can get your approval on any initial sketches or mockups and update you with my progress along the way.which brings me to answer the second question - yes, you will get to see the art before it's finished!you can find the respective portrait and chibi prices and information over on my commissions page.

..

i'd like some changes made, is this possible?

short answer, yes. but to an extent and within reason.i will always ensure to send an initial sketch through before making any kind of detailed progress, and this is the prime time for you to direct or advise me of any changes you'd like made, especially for portraits - once i start solidly getting in on that detail, pencil is really hard to erase without it affecting the whole picture. so please be aware of this. if you're unhappy with how it's looking i can start again, but this will be included in the total number of hours.for chibis i have room to be a bit more lenient. minor changes such as altering any colours, or slight adjustments to a facial expression etc. i am more than happy to do free of charge even after i've sent through the finished piece. i like to ensure that you as a customer are satisfied with the product i am creating for you. any significant changes however, which would include the character's pose, clothes or how they wear their hair, you must let me know about before i begin colouring. i will send through the digital line-work for your approval first, so don't worry. these kinds of changes are still possible even after the chibi is finished, there will just be additional fees if you're wanting me to make them.

..

how do i pay and how will i receive my art from you?

my accepted payment methods include paypal or transferring directly into my bank account (australia only). details will be e-mailed so payment can be submitted via whichever is most convenient for you.portraits will be physically mailed (fees apply) meaning you'll have to provide a postal address, and chibis will be delivered digitally via a link that will allow you to download the high-res file directly from my google drive.

..

what am i allowed to do with the digital file?

feel free to post my art on your social media, but please do remember to credit me as well! (i'm @bonejangless across the board). you can make it your profile picture, phone background, print it to hang in your house etc., that's totally fine with me (and gives me warm, happy fuzzy feelings if i'm honest).please do not make copies to sell or upload anywhere for others to purchase. if you have commissioned me for art of yourself and you'd like to use that for your own brand, website, youtube channel or the like, that is also fine, i just kindly request that you ask for my permission first. thank you!

..

i'd like more than one copy of the portrait i commissioned, are you able to provide prints?

absolutely! if this is the case, just let me know how many before you pay and i'll include copies when i mail out the original piece to you. cost is a flat fee of $10 per print.

..

i'm really sorry, but i need to cancel my order...

hey, that's okay. i understand these things happen, and i'm sorry you had to do this. please note though that you will have to forfeit your deposit as these are non-refundable and you will not receive any art.

..

i missed out on ordering a commission!

oh no! i'm really sorry about this. due to demand i simply cannot accept every commission order that comes my way and generally my commissions close within a few hours of me opening them as spots get filled very quickly. i strongly recommend you sign up to my mailing list via the home page to be notified in advance when commissions will open (if you don't receive a welcome e-mail, check your junk mail!).i endeavour to open commissions every few months or so, but this will of course depend on my current workload; how many orders i have to get through and how long they take. i try to split priority between both new and returning customers to ensure everyone has a fair chance. and i do take note of those who miss out and end up e-mailing again next time. thank you so much for your interest and support!

..

i can't afford a commission right now, are there other ways to support you?

i definitely understand that art is a luxury and not a necessity, so not everyone is in a position to purchase at this time. following me on social media, sharing/crediting and recommending my work to your friends, family and followers is a great way to support me in a non-financial way. word of mouth is hugely beneficial as it's what i rely on to get my name and brand out there! links to my social platforms can be found at the bottom of every page.don't forget, there's always the option of treating yourself or someone you know to a little something from my shop if that's viable for you!

..

if your question hasn't been answered, feel free to contact me!i'm also happy to discuss options, provide estimates & quotes etc. even if you don't end up ordering.
